RTI - Online Application Process (Karnataka)

RTI BEST PRACTICE:

  • DO NOT CLUB MULTIPLE QUERIES IN ONE/SAME RTI REQUEST.

  • IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO FILE SEPARATE RTI’s FOR EACH OF YOUR QUERY. THIS WILL MAKE SURE YOU GET INFORMATION TO THE POINT, AND ALSO YOU CAN TRACK ALL QUERIES SEPARATELY.

  • If Multiple Queries are clubbed in the same RTI Request, Authorities usually will only answer to one of your easiest queries and dispose of your RTI Request to your dismay!

Prevention is Better than Cure, so follow best practice ☺ !

ONLINE RTI Drawbacks:

It’s been observed that RTI requests submitted online usually/sometimes don't move to the next stage. RTI requests that are submitted in the portal are verified by the Nodal officer, and this task is manual. Nodal Officer may choose his own frequency to login and manually review and forward it to the respective officers (SPIO’s) and usually it is done in batches. So things sometimes take time (2 days to few months ☺).

Many of the RTI submitted during covid were stuck for months, but gradually it has progressed and picking up. Like any government follow-ups, you will need “Loads of Patience and Perseverance”.

All it costs us is INR 13, and you can do it in the comfort of your home. So, keep filing and it’s WORTH a try!
